Our goal has been to make a low gluten beer that tastes really great… like a craft beer should. The full flavor of Aqotango satisfies, with just enough bite. You can taste the quinoa in each sip.

INGREDIENTS

Aqotango is brewed using a proprietary blend of malts, quinoa, hops, and yeast. The resultant product is a delicious beer that has the full body of traditional ales with a subtle quinoa note. Consumers have remarked positively about this unique combination of tastes.

BREWING PROCESS

We use quinoa for the nutty taste. As an added benefit, quinoa does not contain gluten so Aqotango starts with a lower gluten content than other beers. We then craft Aqotango to produce a bright clear beer that is low in gluten. Our Elisa method test results are always less than 10 parts per million.

ABOUT GLUTEN TESTING AND LABELING

FOODS

In 2013, the FDA established, among other criteria, a gluten limit of less than 20 parts per million (ppm) for foods that carry the labels "gluten-free," "no gluten," "free of gluten," or "without gluten." This level is the lowest that can be reliably detected in foods using scientifically validated analytical methods. This regulation applies to all foods and beverages with the exception of meat, poultry, eggs, and most alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages are regulated by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).

BEER

TTB determined that it would be misleading for alcohol beverages produced from grains containing gluten or their derivatives to make a "gluten-free" claim without a means to verify the accuracy of that statement through scientifically validated methods. TTB does not accept the current standard Elisa test as being applicable to fermented beverages. Therefore, all low gluten beers brewed with malted barley must carry a mandatory disclaimer.
